Principal’s Message
Education has been an important part of my family for generations. My great-great grandmother was the first school teacher in the area that I grew up in, teaching in a one room school house during the civil war era. Later, my grandfather (her grandson) was a trustee of that same school. Throughout the years, other members of my family have been involved in education in one capacity or another; teaching, support staff, etc.
For me, my first true love was music; performing, teaching, and conducting. 
Eventually my desire to teach reached beyond music to the other core elementary and middle school subjects. I have taught all elementary grades, either music or the core subjects, and I have taught middle school Math and Social Studies. I hold certifications in PreK-6 Elementary Education, 7-12 Social Studies, and K-12 Business and Distributive Studies; as well as my Public School Administrator/Supervisory Certification.
Having raised 5 children (4 sons and 1 daughter), I understand what it is to be a parent, as well as an educator. I believe this parental experience helps me to understand and relate to parents in their desire to see their children succeed. I also understand the importance of reaching each child based on their individual strengths, skills, and experiences. As each one of my five children were individuals and different from one another.
I am proud to be the principal of AuSable Forks Elementary. It is an outstanding school with a high quality, caring staff; all of which love children and have a strong desire and commitment to see students succeed. We believe that every student deserves the best education we can give them and we respect every student as an individual, each with their own skills, character, and strengths. It is with the hard work of the staff and the parents, that we can help each and every child reach their potential.
I welcome every student and parent to AuSable Forks Elementary - the school community that cares and is proud of its students.
