Sophomore Class

Welcome to the Sophomore Class website.  As the class advisor, I would like to let you know about some of the activities we will be working on this year.  Besides collecting class dues, we will be involved in two big fundraisers.

  1. Our annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament will be held on Saturday March 27th.  This tournament is open to all students from grade 4 -12 in our district and neighboring districts.  The day’s activities will also include a 3 point shooting competition, ½ court competition, and if we have enough interest, a slam dunk competition.    Please mark this date on your calendar as we will be looking for volunteers to officiate, run the concession stand, sell 50/50 tickets, and be timers and ball retrievers.  We would also love to see you get out on the court and participate in the tournament.
  2. We will hold an end of the year field day/carnival on June 5th.  This will be open to the entire community and will be held on the modified football field behind the MHS.  It will be an all day event starting at 11 and ending at approximately 6 or 7.  All the events for the day are not solidified yet but we are looking at the list of activities below.  Again, we will need a number of volunteers in order to pull this off and would appreciate it if you could mark your calendars and plan on attending and maybe helping out.  We will need volunteers to set up prior to the event, work tables, sell concessions, make baked goods, donate materials, pack up materials when we are finished, etc.  If you have any ideas, suggestions, or would like to help out please contact me at 834-2800 ext 268 or by e-mail.
    1. Dunking booth, clowns, balloon animals, face painting, magician, pull tab booth, bake sale, basket raffles, selling a monthly drawing raffle tickets (the ones with the daily lottery numbers), horse/pony rides along the nature trail, renting a balloon jump for kids, fishing game for kids, balloon pop game(darts), a putting game (golf), baseball bottle throw, a color wheel game, duck pull, lollipop tree, food booths, and possibly a band.  We may also rent out tables to local venders.
  3. Students will also be asked to pay class dues of $10 for their Sophomore year and if they haven’t already, $5 for their Freshman year.  These can be paid anytime during the school year.  Checks can be made out to class of 2012.  ****Students who participate in the above mentioned fund raisers will be exempt from class dues.
