Transportation DeptGeneral Information:
The AVCS transportation Department transports approx. 1,250 students daily to 12 schools (public, non-public, special education, and vocational schools) with 74 runs daily (am + pm).  The transportation staff comprised of contract drivers, bus monitors, mechanics and dispatcher.  Our fleet consists of a total of 38 vehicles made up of 30 full size buses, 5 small buses and 3 vans.  The district covers approximately 300 square miles.  Combined, our buses traveled over 475,000 miles during the 2010-2011 school year.  That is an average of over 2,600 miles daily to transport our 1,250 to 12 school buildings.

AVCS Transportation Department Mission Statement:
The  AVCS Transportation Department is an integral part of the students overall educational experience.  It is our goal, not only to transport our students safely to and from school and on special trips, but also to maintain an environment of safety and positive attitude while on the buses.

In the event that school is closed or delayed due to inclement weather, announcements will be made at the earliest possible time. Please visit the School Closings page at WPTZ.com or listen to any of the following radio stations: WEAV, WIRY, WOKO, WIZN, WXXX.  The local television station, WPTZ Channel 5, also carries school-closing announcements on their early news broadcast.  Please do not call the school, bus garage, or local district office for cancellation information unless absolutely necessary.
