5300 – ADVANCED ART – – 1 High School Credit
Prerequisite Successful completion of Studio in Art (5308) and Drawing and Painting (5302).
This course is designed for the student who is planning to pursue art as a career. Students will focus on creating artwork independently and will participate in projects that will emphasize portfolio preparation. Further development of two and three-dimensional art will be explored.
5304 – POTTERY – – ½ High School Credit
Prerequisite Successful completion of Studio in Art (5308).
This advanced level class focuses primarily on the sculptural qualities of clay. This course incorporates a variety of hand-building techniques, as well as wheel-throwing techniques to make functional pottery and sculptural art.
5307 – CERAMICS AND SCULPTURE – – ½ High School Credit
Prerequisite Successful completion of Studio in Art (5308).
This advanced level art course focuses primarily on the three-dimensional arts. Students will gain an understanding of basic sculpture techniques and media as they create three-dimensional artwork through building, carving and forming.
5302 – DRAWING AND PAINTING – – 1 High School Credit
Prerequisite Successful completion of Studio in Art (5308).
This advanced level art course focuses primarily on the two-dimensional arts. Techniques in drawing, painting, printmaking and collage will help students strengthen artistic skills. This course is excellent for the student who enjoys drawing!
5308 – STUDIO IN ART – – 1 High School Credit
This introductory level art course covers a variety of basic artistic skills and techniques. Projects involve the development of basic drawing skills, techniques in painting, art history, and introduction to two-dimensional and three-dimensional art forms.
5321 – DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY I – – ½ High School Credit
Prerequisite Studio in Art. Beneficial: Photoshop.
This course is an introduction to the fine art of digital photography. Students will learn how to manually operate their cameras rather than the typical point and shoot method. Assignments will be geared to teach students how to use their own cameras and apply the concept of composition and the elements of photography. The focus will be on black and white photography, but students will explore some color printing as well. This is not a class in Photoshop and it would be beneficial for students to take Photoshop prior to this class. Students will be using Photoshop to process their images. They will leave the class having a working knowledge of their own cameras and the art of digital photography.
Supplies Needed: Digital Camera (preferably with a manual setting and the ability to adjust shutter speed and aperture (there will be a small number of cameras to lend). Photo Paper. Flash Drive. Tripod (not mandatory, but beneficial).
5322 – DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY II – – ½ High School Credit
Prerequisite Digital Photography I.
This course is meant to be a continuation of Digital Photography I. Students will explore the art of photography in a more advances level. Studies will delve deeper into color photography, the elements and composition in photography and expression. Students will create a portfolio of work to complete this course.
