Au Sable Forks – The AVCS baseball project to improve the facilities and to repair the historic bleachers is well underway. Organizers have scheduled a volunteer workday for Sunday April 10th , at 10 A.M. . Any and all are encouraged and welcome to attend. On this day the bleachers will be jacked up on the backside, new wooden material placed where needed, and a new blue metal roof installed. Anyone who would like to help out to improve this historic facility and bleachers are most welcome. Lunch will be provided. We are also in need of additional tools such as drills, screw guns, hammers, and crow bars.
We are most grateful for all the community support so far as it has been overwhelming. Anyone still wishing to donate to this project may do so by making out a check to the AVCS Booster Club and in the memo of the check please write “baseball project” and then mail to Randy Douglas at 31 Aspen Lane, Jay, NY 12941.
We are doing the overall project in phases and this is the second phase. The next phase will include painting the bleachers, the placement of a new Flag pole, building of dugouts, and placing a new digital scoreboard. Anyone donating time or money will be considered supporters and will have their names placed on a plaque to be placed at the facility when the overall project is completed.
Additionally, we are also doing a fundraiser at 20 Main Tavern on Saturday, June 4th from 4-7 P.M. . More details to be out soon, but we will be doing a silent auction at the fundraiser so if anyone is wishing to donate a new item for the auction may drop it off at 20 Main or email Randy Douglas @ randydouglas12@gmail.com and he will be glad to pick the items up from you. Think Spring and think baseball.
Thank You.
