The Au Sable Valley Central School Capital Project Vote will take place on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Clintonville, Middle School-High School Cafeteria. Voting hours will be from 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m.
PROPOSITION NO. 1
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of Au Sable Valley Central School District is hereby authorized to undertake a capital improvement program consisting of: (i) alterations, renovations and improvements to the Keeseville Elementary School, the Au Sable Forks Elementary School, the Middle School – High School, the Au Sable Forks Bus Garage, the Keeseville Bus Garage, Keeseville Bio Mass, Middle School – High School Bio Mass, and the District Office, and other site improvements for various school purposes and other appurtenant and related improvements, and (ii) the acquisition and installation in and around such buildings of original furnishings, equipment, machinery and apparatus and other services incidental thereto, all at a total cost not to exceed $24,000,000, such cost to be raised by tax upon the taxable property of said District to be levied and collected in annual installments as provided in Section 416 of the Education Law, with such tax to be partially offset by state aid available therefore, and in anticipation of such tax, by obligations of said District.

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of Au Sable Valley Central School District is hereby authorized to undertake an energy performance contract improvement program consisting of: (i) alterations, renovations and improvements to the Keeseville Elementary School, the Au Sable Forks Elementary School, the Middle School – High School, the Au Sable Forks Bus Garage, the Keeseville Bus Garage, Keeseville Bio Mass, Middle School – High School Bio Mass, and the District Office, and other site improvements for various school purposes and other appurtenant and related improvements, and (ii) the acquisition and installation in and around such buildings of original furnishings, equipment, machinery and apparatus and other services incidental thereto, all at a total cost not to exceed $5,500,000, such cost to offset by state aid available, and energy savings realized from renovations and improvements, and in anticipation of such savings, by obligations of said District.

Capital Project Update #1 – Introduction
2023 Capital Project Update
On November 15th, 2023 the AuSable Valley Central School Board of Education approved a capital project not to exceed 24 million dollars and an Energy Performance Contract (EPC) to not exceed 5.5 million. This referendum will be put up for a vote on February 14th from 12pm to 9pm in our high school cafeteria.
2023 Capital Project Details
New York State requires all districts to conduct a building conditions survey every five years. Our latest Building Condition Survey, completed in 2021, was the starting point for this capital project. We began by reviewing this survey with our facilities planning team which consisted of our architectural firm CSArch, community members, staff members and Board of Education members. Initially there was over 65 million dollars of work identified in the survey, but over the past eight months we have narrowed down the scope of work to 24 million dollars. This project truly focuses on building safety and infrastructure. We have reached the end of life for boilers, roofs, synthetic field, pool, track, tennis courts, auditorium lighting, and much more. These will all be addressed in this project. We will be enhancing the security of all of the school’s main entrances. We have also decided to include an Energy Performance Contract (EPC) in this project. The purpose of the EPC is to upgrade systems such as boilers and lighting to be more energy efficient. The energy savings will pay for these upgrades over time with no additional cost to the taxpayers. These are all investments that will allow our school to continue to operate safely and efficiently while offering additional opportunities for our students. This is the first step in informing our community about the upcoming project. There will be more communication in the coming weeks and opportunities for the community to ask questions.
