1100 – FRENCH 4 CCC* – – 1 High School Credit – – 6 CCC Credits
Prerequisite: Successful completion of French 1, 2 and 3, as well as a passing grade on the Local French 3 Examination.
This course is an intermediate college level course. Its emphasis is to continue producing language– to communicate ideas, thoughts and feelings. Students will continue to work on grammar and will integrate structures they are learning with spoken written and spoken activities. Francophone Culture will be the main focus for both semester courses. Related themes and readings will be incorporated to provide steady growth with vocabulary and grammar.

Introduction to FRENCH I CCC – – ½ High School Credit – – 3 CCC Credits
Prerequisite: Successful completion of French 1, 2 and 3, as well as a passing grade on the Local French 3 Examination.
Furthers development of language skills with emphasis on spoken and written communication.
Introduction to FRENCH II CCC – – ½ High School Credits – – 3 CCC Credits
Prerequisite: Successful completion of French I CCC.
Continues development of the basic language skills and discussion of French literature.
1101 – FRENCH 3 – 1 High School Credit
Prerequisite: Successful completion of French 1 and French 2.
While continuing with the cumulative mastery of listening and speaking skills, this course emphasizes reading comprehension and writing expression. It is also intended to prepare students for the Local French 3 Examination.
1102 – FRENCH 2 – 1 High School Credit
Prerequisite: Successful completion of French 1 or the Local Proficiency Examination in French.
This course offers a review of skills taught in French 1 with the introduction of more sophisticated vocabulary and grammatical structures. While continuing listening and speaking skills, French 2 begins to also stress reading and writing skills.
1103 – FRENCH 1 – 1 High School Credit
This course emphasizes listening and speaking skills while exposing students to vocabulary needed for basic language communication in a language other than English. Reading and writing skills are also studied through the introduction of elementary grammatical structures. Credit is earned for this course through successful completion of this course, or passing the Local Proficiency Examination in French. Credit for this course is required for graduation.
1200 – SPANISH 4 CCC* – 1 High School Credit – – 6 CCC Credits
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Spanish 1, 2 and 3, as well as a passing grade on the Local Spanisstrong Examination.
This is an intermediate college level course. Its emphasis is to continue producing language—to communicate ideas, thoughts and feelings. Students will continue to work on grammar and will integrate its structures through written and spoken activities. The practical theme of Spanish for Tourism will end the spring semester. Themes and reading are incorporated into the steady growth in vocabulary and grammar.

Introduction to Spanish II CCC – ½ High School Credits – – 3 CCC Credits
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Spanish I CCC.
Continues the development of the four basic language skills and discussion of literature.
1201 – SPANISH 3 – 1 High School Credit
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Spanish 2.
This course revisits many of the grammatical themes of Spanish 1 and 2 at a higher level. New vocabulary themes are introduced. New grammar structures feature the preterite, imperfect and progressive tenses. Other activities will include a culture fair (Academic Ventures in Cultural Studies), as well as addressing other items of interest. This course is also intended to prepare students for the Local Spanish 3 Examination.
1202 – SPANISH 2 – 1 High School Credit
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Spanish 1 or the Local Proficiency Examination in Spanish.
In this course the present tense is thoroughly covered and there is an intense focus on direct, indirect and reflexive pronouns. Many themes are introduced through vocabulary and each unit generally involves a project requiring active participation. Students will participate in the culture fair (Academic Ventures in Cultural Studies) as well.
1203 – SPANISH 1 – 1 High School Credit
This course is vocabulary-driven with many basic themes such as nationality, telling time, numbers, colors, clothing, professions, sports and homes. The grammar emphasizes agreement, subject pronouns, basic verbs and the conjugation of verbs. Students also participate in the culture fair (Academic Ventures in Cultural Studies). Credit is earned for this course through successful completion of this course, or passing the Local Proficiency Examination in Spanish. Credit for this course is required for graduation.
