

General Information:
The AVCS transportation Department transports approx. 1,200 students daily to 9 schools (public, non-public, special education, and vocational schools) with 70 runs daily (am + pm). The transportation staff comprised of contract drivers, bus monitors, mechanics, dispatcher, substitute bus drivers and monitors. Our fleet consists of a total of 46 vehicles made up of 34 full size buses, 8 small buses and 4 vans. The district covers approximately 300 square miles. Combined, our buses travel approximately 475,000 miles during the school year. That is an average of over 2,600 miles daily.
AVCS Transportation Department Mission Statement:
The AVCS Transportation Department is an integral part of the students overall educational experience. It is our goal, not only to transport our students safely to and from school and on special trips, but also to maintain an environment of safety and positive attitude while on the buses.

In the event that school is closed or delayed due to inclement weather, announcements will be made at the earliest possible time. Please visit the School Closings page at WPTZ.com or listen to any of the following radio stations: WEAV, WIRY, WOKO, WIZN, WXXX. The local television station, WPTZ Channel 5, also carries school-closing announcements on their early news broadcast. Please do not call the school, bus garage, or local district office for cancellation information unless absolutely necessary.
